Multimodal behavioural feedback

Your reps hear “no”. Retorio hears why.

Retorio reads what was said, how it sounded and how it looked, and points the rep to the exact moments worth fixing.

Multimodal behavioural feedback

Words, voice and face, read as one conversation

Most feedback tools grade the transcript. A buyer does not. Words, voice and face are read together across the session recording, and the result names the behaviour that moved the conversation.

    Plotted, not just scored

Where a rep lands on Warmth and Competence, and how that position moves across sessions.

  • Alignment between channelsEmpathetic wording delivered with closed body language is a different finding from either one alone, and it is the finding that matters.
  • The method is disclosed on screenThe product states how a skill was evaluated on the same view as the result.
  • Applied knowledge kept separateContent mastery is scored apart from communication, so a product gap and a behaviour gap do not hide each other.
  • Built on published behavioural scienceThe Warmth and Competence framework is the basis, not an internal invention.
  • Per-session evidenceEvery score traces back to the recording it came from, so a coaching conversation can start from the moment itself.
  • Role-based accessAn individual result is visible to the people whose role permits it, which is what a works council asks about first.
  • 140+ behavioural cuesPacing, pauses, pitch, posture, gestures, eye contact, word choice and hedging are read in the same pass.
  • Four skills plus applied knowledgeActive listening, empathy, confidence and persona-oriented communication, with applied knowledge scored separately.
  • Guidelines per scenarioEach skill is judged against evaluation guidelines generated for that specific scenario, not a generic rubric.
  • Three to four focus areas, not a data dumpThe rep gets the three to four changes with the biggest impact, not every observation the engine made.
  • Observe, analyse, actEach focus area is shown in the video, explained, and turned into concrete alternative phrasing.
  • Research you can checkGrounded in the Big Five framework (McCrae and John, 1992) and research at the Technical University of Munich, MIT and the University of Tokyo.
Conversation modes

From guided practice to the real conversation

Choose one of four modes when you build a session. Natural is the closest to a real call: no instructions, scored on the behavioural goals you set.

Guided

Everything visible

The full task list stays on screen while the rep talks. The most structured mode, for reps new to a scenario.

Reveal

Unlocks as they go

Each task appears once the rep has covered it, so reps recall the steps instead of reading them.

Test

Goal only

Only the goal is shown and the tasks stay hidden. The result shows which ones the rep covered.

4 hidden tasksThe result shows whether you covered them.
Natural

The real conversation

No instructions, an open conversation scored against your behavioural goals. The closest to a real call.

Natural mode: an open conversation with an AI persona

During the callGuidance from the coach

After the callScored on behavioural goals

Guided, Reveal and Test score against the session's stage instructions. Modes are switched on per organisation. Natural mode works only with multimodal feedback switched on, because its scoring reads every signal of the call.

Feedback that works like a real coach

A dashboard of twenty numbers changes nothing. A good coach picks what matters, shows the moment and explains what to do instead. That is how the feedback is built.

What a session is running on

The scenario, the counterpart and the numbers every role play depends on, none of them on the screens above, and what the teams running it say.

  • Scenarios

Built from your material, and the research you ask for.

Your enablement team briefs the coach on the goal and uploads the product sheet, the battle card or the pricing rules. When you ask, the coach adds public competitor research and shows where each point came from. In the role play itself, the counterpart answers only from the material you approved.

  • Counterparts

The customer your reps dread, in the language they sell in.

93 photorealistic avatars, 38 voices and 14 languages. You set the persona's background, its attitude towards your company and how hard it pushes, then reuse it across scenarios. The rep in Lisbon and the rep in Munich practise against the same standard.

  • Analytics

Adoption and progress by cohort, not by anecdote.

Which cohorts are practising, how many scenarios they complete, and how Warmth and Competence move across the organisation over time. Compare cohorts side by side. Small groups stay hidden behind privacy thresholds, by design.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly does the AI analyse?

Three channels in parallel. Verbal: content, structure, hedging language. Vocal: pace, tonal variation, pause placement, fluency. Visual: facial expressions, eye contact, posture, gestures. The engine also checks whether the channels agree with each other.

Can the feedback criteria follow our own playbook?

Yes, that is the default. Admins upload playbooks, product sheets or compliance guidelines, and the evaluation guidelines for each scenario are generated from them. Recommendations come from your approved materials, which is what keeps the feedback usable in regulated industries.

Who sees a rep's results?

The rep, and the people whose role permits it, such as their manager and your admins. Access follows the roles you set, and aggregated views apply privacy thresholds by design.

Is this emotion recognition under the EU AI Act?

No. Retorio is EU AI Act aligned, and the analysis is of professional communication behaviour in a practice session with a virtual buyer, not inference of a person's emotional state for a decision about them. Our compliance documentation covers this for your legal review.

What does IT need to approve?

Retorio is ISO 27001 certified, GDPR and DSGVO compliant, EU AI Act aligned, and hosted on GCP with EU data residency. Retorio acts as data processor and your organisation remains the data controller.

How is Retorio's feedback different from a dashboard of scores?

A dashboard shows averages and generic statements, such as "your eye contact was fair". Retorio picks the three to four points that matter most in a conversation, links each one to the moment it happened, explains it from the customer's point of view and shows what to do instead.

Can we trust an AI score?

A single judgment by a language model fluctuates; added up over hundreds of judgments, it does not. Each overall score is aggregated from more than 500 individual assessments, and scoring is calibrated per language and per behaviour category on thousands of real conversations, and again before every model change.
